Less than 7 hours to go...

I just wanted to say...

Bye everyone! Take care of yourselves. I'll update in Japan!

My phone number will remain unchanged for 1 week, for emergency calls/sms-es. :)

So, that's it!

Sayonara, Singapore. See you next year!

Pre-departure week: less than 2 days to go

XZ managed to convince me (in less than a minute) that it's better to take the window seats cos it's gonna be day time when I travel. Plus, it's not like it's such a long flight, only around 6 hours so the restroom trips won't be very frequent. Unfortunately, when I checked in just now, I didn't have the available printer to print my boarding pass. So, it's as good as not checking in... -_____-|| nvm lah, I'll be there 2 hours earlier, so doesn't really matter :)

I'll be at SIA Terminal 3, Rows 3 or 4. Wah, it still doesn't sink in that I'm leaving in less than 2 days... Haha..

Have finished most of my errands/chores. Like, see the dentist to get my teeth cleaned before I go off... Change SGD to Yen... Thank you XZ and FY for accompanying me yesterday to change my money at Chinatown! =) Almost got cheated, but thank goodness we managed to escape the lying cheat. *shudders* I'm scared to think what could have been had the guy not been so careless to let slip that he was trying to cheat us. *shudders*

This week has been 100% busy. I predict the same of next week. Haha. Now I'm left with...

1) Re-contract line with ST
2) Buy present (yes, I keep having this on my to-do list) for the host family
3) Buy stationery (basically, just pens and pencil lead)
4) Buy Universal Adaptor (yes, till now, it's still not bought. I don't know what would happen if I don't buy now)
5) Buy tissue paper packs! haha. =P
6) Take passport sized photos [need at least 2 for my alien registration]
7) Buy rubber band to tie hair [I remember in US, FY and I bought this insanely expensive bunch of rubber band. insanely expensive!]
8) Buy gastric medicine [but I don't recall taking any gastric medicine in US. But better on me, than not on me]
9) Superglue
10) Exercise book to pen my thoughts
11) Scissors / sewing kit (?)
12) Lan Cable [Important !!!]

Pre-departure week

More than half the week has passed... Have I done anything productive? Hmm... Let's see...

Monday
- Completed internship report.
- Did something really stupid on Monday, which led to someone being a little bit disappointed in me... But, I swear I'd never do it again! It's a once in a life-time experience... Hmm, At least I got my lesson in the horrendous allergy that ensued. *shudders* I'm itchy, red, sore and horribly easily irritated. I'd love to describe even more about the rashes, but of course, I shan't. It'd be a case of TMI = too much information. haha. Nonetheless, the company monday night was great. :) haha. SK bar is the greatest! =P It's got everything, including chips! haha.

Tuesday
- dealt with the SH issue. Line will be suspended from 2 Sept onwards, till I return. And even then, I hafta go down to the SH service centre to get back my line. $5 per month, and my contract is extended for 4 months *sighs* But better than paying 32 bucks for something that no one is using.
- met Rama in the morning =) haha, had philosophical discussion with him (as usual! What's new?) and came away rather refreshed...
- sent email for increase in baggage allowance. Still waiting for the response from SIA.
- bought my travel insurance. Decided to buy annual insurance since a) its cheaper, b) I plan to backpack europe next summer (Gerald, pls get ready for me to bunk in ur room =P)
- bought rechargeable batteries. This part took me at least 2 hours because no one in Cold Storage Taka could figure out if the rechargeable device I wanted had world-wide voltage (obviously not). By the time we all figured out, it was too late. I'd already gone to Best Denki to get my rechargeable batteries (sighs, w/o using my taka voucher! :()
- paid school fees
- met jon for dinner and used UOB card to buy tickets to Bad Habits. Now I know that using UOB card during wkdays, u get to pay only 6 bucks (regardless of the time)! haha.
- saw doctor for the allergy. Need to steal painkillers and whatnot (other medicine, such as cough syrup etc) from him, but he refused to give me. Nevermind, when I go see my dentist, I'd ask for it...

Wednesday
- got my insurance policy certificate, plus an electronic version of it (in case, and this is highly likely, I misplace it and require another one)
- bought all the toiletries necessary from Chinatown
- visited my very very very damned 帅 hairstylist and he cut fy's hair rather prettily. Haha, fy calls him, 公认的帅哥! haha, just like MS! MS also a 公认的帅哥!!! Haha. I shall follow my 公认的帅哥 wherever he goes to cut hair. Haha, maybe till he's 30 and starts to look less like a 帅哥. But hopefully, by then we'd have built a friendship lah. He looks like the kind who can do stuff for u and will help u if u're a friend. But then, I always am wrong, so maybe this one I'd be wrong too!
- withdrew money from Standard Chartered.
- converted SGD to 30k yen
- watch WALL-E with the older tiger, cos the other tiger cldn't make it... =( But had ben&Jerry's icecream after that, courtesy of the older tiger. =) haha, very very nice! Me loves cheesecake! and pralines (ate that with FY in the afternoon)
- started packing. Yesterday when I came online, out of the 5 MSN conversations I had, 3 started out with, "how's the packing" or something similar. Haha, I can now tell u... the packing's going on fine. around 70% done. My weighing machine tells me that I'm bringing at least 15.5kg worth of clothes. I still can't figure out why so much :( But of course, that includes my 2 winter jackets, 1 autumn coat (damned heavy can!) and a whole load of other stuff. I'm not gonna be very fashionable in japan :( *sighs* Shall throw away all my clothes when I get there and go to uniqlo and buy all their clothes.

Okay, needs to:
- wash all other clothes that I'm supposed to pack but can't pack because they're not washed (does that even remotely make sense?)
- clean up the room which looks like WW4 hit it.
- buy traveller's cheque in Jap Yen. Like, tomorrow. Like ASAP.
- maybe buy the vacuum pack thingie. Cos my coats are all very very thick, but its all air inside. :(
- buy files
- buy stationery
- continue packing!!! packing, packing packing!!!!

Flight Details

I don't expect people to come send me off, cos the airport is so far away (Well, Changi IS far away, at least for a Northerner like me, but for XZ and FY, it shd be no problem =P). This is to serve as a reminder, in case I lose my booking confirmation. And given that I'm such a scatterbrain, that's highly highly likely.

Trepidation

You know... When you start packing, and start doing all the administrative stuff, the reality that you're leaving finally starts sinking in... you start worrying about the possibility of home-sickness and inability to assimilate into the culture. Particularly since you're gonna be the only SMU student around [scarier yet, the only Singaporean student around]. And of course, the all important, "Will i have enough money, damnnit?"

My parents are worrying about my finances. Haha, so sweet of them! I told them that the scholarship pays for $7300 [accomodation takes up more than 4k, airplane costs more than 1.5k.. so I'm left with around 1.5k for expenses and travelling. Impossible to survive with that amount!] Told my parents tt I can handle the rest. But being parents, I guess they can't help but worry lah... Expected, since that time when I went to US, I think they worried a lot about the money issue too... But then, back then I was working. Now I'm gonna go for exchange and am not allowed to work :'(

Okay, countdown! I'm left with exactly 1 week, i.e. 7 days, before I leave for Japan!!!

I have so far.. done up half a packing list, and hopefully with Anu's packing list [thanks Anu!], I can finally complete packing within the next two days *crosses fingers* Of course, there's that trip to Chinatown where I have to buy moisturizer, shower cream etc etc etc. And also to buy some Singaporean touristy stuff for my host-family, since my plans for a present got doused by the rain today. *sobs*

So many things to do, so little time, and procrastination!!!

Okay, but of course, the most important thing is: COMPLETE THE INTERNSHIP REPORT. FINISH THE INTERNSHIP REPORT BEFORE THEY DISCOUNT IT AS AN INTERNSHIP!!!!!

Which brings me to the next point... Totally unrelated to Osaka, though. haha. I sorta miss PSD. The thought of not going to work tomorrow is... well, making me feel strange. Haha, the thought of not waking up at 545am, snoozing the alarm til 630am, jumping out of the bed because I'm late makes me feel a little lost.. It's like a routine, no longer in place... And not having those gossipy talks with Siew Cheng and Patrina... And not listening to Ruby say, "我很忙!"

Haha and funny things like, seeing the Perm-Sec at least every week because we happen to go to the ladies at the same time... Or seeing Anu and end up chatting for 15min in the ladies of all places... Or playing pool (haven't played pool in 2 weeks), which reminds me, I never did say good bye to Max (awww, i love Max!). Shd have said good bye to him :'( I never said bye to Eugene either! Or Jonathan, or Fion, or ZhiYing. Oh noes, so many ppl I never said bye to because I was rushing the trend analysis report!! All my fault for procrastinating on that report :(

Other lame things that I do... Walking along the corridor on my way to the ladies and upon seeing Josh, start yelling at him, "Eh, you slacker! Slacking along the corridor again lah!" and him yelling back, "You also slacking lor!" haha. And every morning at around 1030am, get off my comfortable perch because Auntie has to vacuum my area. I think she needs to vacuum my area more than any other areas because I eat to much and the crumbs fall all over the floor (litter bug!) And of course, having lunches at Central. rarely have lunches anywhere else except twice at Sushi Don and twice at the Stingray place.. haha, found some really nice food (crepes, crepes!) there...

*sighs* I had some really fun times at PSD!!!! *sighs* Reminds me of what xz always asks me, "Do you guys actually work?!" haha. Oei, xz, dont spoil my reputation k! I got work one! just tt I know how to have fun! =p

I'm glad Suat Lay chose me for the position. haha, or else I'd never have met some of the nicest people on earth, esp Mr Greedy Tiger, whom I shall join in Tokyo, provided everything goes well. *rubs hands in glee* Can't wait to be stuffed with the delicious food that he'd be introducing us (me and his meimei). haha.

It's a sad thing to close a chapter of my life you know. It's not like the door's closed forever though. I've made a number of good friends during this internship and I *crosses fingers* hope they will last as lifetime friends.

Of course, I shall open another chapter of my life in Osaka. Now, onward to Osaka, where I'll meet loads of nice people too! =) And hopefully some damned handsome guy... haha. who's NOT short. =P JJ said to me once, "You have to increase the height limit of ur crushes." I so agree! hahahahahaha. But if my crushes's height limit is to stay at that level, then I'm sure i'd have no trouble finding cute guys in japan =P =P =P

Tadah!

I opened a blog, especially for my Japan trip! haha. Along the way, if there's internet connection, I'll upload pictures and blog about my Japan experience (still regret that for my US trip, I didn't! =()

For my first post, I'm inviting people to request for things for me to buy as a present. I mean, of course, if you want me to buy some cosmestics (provided I don't buy wrongly) and ship them back and you pay me, it's fine too... But, remember that I'm a poor student! And probably can't afford that Blue Label that you're salivating after. Haha, but I'll try. =p

So, erm, request away? hahahahahaha.
